The Old Cemetery, also known as the Ocean Cemetery,
is separated from the ocean by a single wall.
It houses 2400 gravestones and the mausoleum of Rabbi Haim Pinto.
The oldest gravestone dates back to 1775.
It served as the main cemetery of Essaouira
and its large Jewish community until around 1875.
